Mohammadwadi, 18th June 2026: In a major relief for commuters and residents, the hazardous electricity poles that had long obstructed traffic at Kad Nagar Chowk, a key junction connecting Mohammadwadi and Undri, have been permanently removed. The work was completed on June 16, significantly improving road safety and traffic flow at one of the area’s busiest intersections.

The issue had remained unresolved for several years despite posing a serious risk to motorists and pedestrians. Public representatives and local residents had consistently pursued the matter with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), urging the authorities to relocate the poles in the interest of public safety.

According to civic representatives, the project was delayed due to multiple administrative and procedural formalities involving PMC and MSEDCL. Following the completion of these processes, the authorities successfully removed the poles.

Public representative Ashok Mehendale welcomed the development, saying, “The permanent removal of the hazardous electricity poles at Kad Nagar Chowk is a significant step towards improving road safety for thousands of commuters travelling between Mohammadwadi and Undri every day. This was a long-pending issue, and I sincerely thank the Pune Municipal Corporation, MSEDCL, Junior Engineer Girish Dhabewar, and all the officials involved for their dedicated efforts in completing this important work.”

Residents also expressed satisfaction over the completion of the project.

“For years, these electricity poles created a dangerous bottleneck at Kad Nagar Chowk, especially during peak traffic hours. Their removal has made the junction much safer for motorists and pedestrians. We appreciate the authorities and everyone who worked persistently to resolve this long-pending issue,” said a local resident.

Another resident added, “This is a welcome development for all residents of Mohammadwadi and Undri. The hazardous poles not only slowed traffic but also posed a constant risk of accidents. We hope similar civic issues in the area are resolved with the same urgency.”

Mehendale also thanked PMC Junior Engineer Girish Dhabewar, senior PMC officials, and concerned officers of MSEDCL for their coordination and efforts in completing the project.
