Pisoli Residents Demand Urgent Civic Action Over Stray Dogs, Water Crisis, Waterlogging and Lack of Basic Infrastructure

Pisoli, 25th June 2026: Residents of Pisoli have once again flagged a series of long-pending civic issues, urging the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and other authorities to take immediate steps to improve public safety and basic infrastructure in the rapidly developing locality.
Among the key concerns raised are the increasing stray dog population, recurring monsoon waterlogging, irregular PMC water supply, lack of streetlights, absence of footpaths, overflowing drainage lines, inadequate storm-water drainage, lack of CCTV surveillance, and the need for enhanced police patrolling.
One of the most affected spots is the area near Unnati Avenue, where even moderate rainfall leads to severe water accumulation. Residents say this disrupts traffic, creates inconvenience for pedestrians, and poses health risks due to stagnant water.
Locals have also demanded sterilisation and vaccination of stray dogs, along with designated feeding zones to ensure scientific management of the stray population while balancing public safety concerns.
Dilip Lathi, a resident, said, “Pisoli has witnessed rapid residential growth over the years, but civic infrastructure has not kept pace. Residents continue to struggle with poor roads, inadequate drainage, lack of footpaths and other essential amenities. We urge the authorities to address these long-pending issues on priority.”
Highlighting safety concerns, Akif Shaikh said, “The stray dog issue has become a major concern for residents. Along with this, the lack of CCTV cameras has affected the overall security of the area. We are also facing persistent PMC water supply issues. The authorities must take immediate action to resolve these problems and ensure the safety and well-being of residents.”
Nitin Mane, a resident of Pisoli for nearly two decades, expressed frustration over deteriorating infrastructure. “For the last 20 years, Pisoli has been facing water supply issues. PMC water does not reach many areas up to Khadi Machine Chowk. There are no proper streetlights and several other civic issues remain unresolved. We request the Pune Municipal Corporation to take Pisoli’s problems seriously and provide the basic infrastructure residents deserve,” he said.
Local animal welfare volunteer Binoy Samuel, who has been caring for stray dogs in the area, said the issue can be addressed through scientific measures. “The focus should be on sterilisation and vaccination rather than conflict. Responsible management of stray dogs benefits both residents and animals. Anyone facing issues related to stray dogs can also reach out to me for assistance,” he said.
Responding to residents’ concerns, Vijay Ovhal from the PMC Dog Control Department assured civic cooperation. “If residents approach us, we will extend full support. We will send our vehicle to the area and carry out sterilisation and anti-rabies vaccination of stray dogs as required,” he said.
Apart from animal management, residents have also demanded a continuous footpath from Khadi Machine Chowk to Undri Chowk, improved internal roads, installation of CCTV cameras, regular police patrolling, strengthened storm-water drainage systems, reliable water supply infrastructure, and adequate street lighting.
With Pisoli witnessing rapid urbanisation and rising residential development, citizens say civic infrastructure has not kept pace with growth. They have urged PMC and other concerned authorities to prioritise long-pending demands and ensure basic urban services are delivered without further delay.
