Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Accused Siya Goyal’s Father Denies Obscene Gesture Allegation, Cites Finger Injury
Pune, 4th July 2026: The family of Siya Goyal, one of the accused in the Ketan Agarwal murder case, has denied allegations that she made an obscene gesture towards the media while being escorted by police, claiming that the viral video has been misinterpreted.
Siya’s father, Praveen Goyal, said allegations circulating on social media that his daughter showed her middle finger to journalists were “completely incorrect.”
According to him, Siya suffered an injury to two fingers a day earlier when they were allegedly caught in the door of a police vehicle while she was being taken home by investigators for questioning. He said the injury caused swelling and discomfort, which may have led to a misunderstanding in the viral footage.
Showing a photograph of his daughter’s injured hand on his mobile phone, Praveen Goyal claimed that one of her fingers was swollen and the nail had turned bluish due to the injury.
“You can see that her finger is swollen and the nail has turned blue. What is being circulated on social media is not the complete truth,” he said, adding that the circumstances surrounding the injury could be verified with the Pune Rural Police.
The family further alleged that the viral video was being interpreted out of context and that attempts were being made to tarnish Siya Goyal’s image without knowing the full facts. They appealed to the public not to form opinions based solely on viral clips or incomplete information and to allow the investigation to reach its conclusion.
The controversy comes amid the ongoing investigation into the death of 25-year-old real estate businessman Ketan Agarwal, who died after falling from a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18.
Police have alleged that Siya Goyal and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, pushed Agarwal off the cliff after conspiring to kill him. Investigators claim the motive was that Goyal did not want to marry Agarwal, despite their wedding being scheduled for November this year. Both accused have denied wrongdoing, and the investigation is continuing.
On Friday, a Pune court remanded Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary to 14 days of judicial custody after the expiry of their police custody. The two were produced before Judicial Magistrate A.M. Vibhute.
The prosecution had sought an extension of police custody by three more days, but the court rejected the request and ordered that both accused be sent to judicial custody.
The allegations against the accused remain under investigation, and the matter is yet to be adjudicated by the court.
