Pune: Tenneco Clean Air India Launches Next Phase of ‘Vrikshaaropan Abhiyan’, Commits 14,000 Native Saplings

Pune, 25th July 2026: Reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability and community well-being, Tenneco Clean Air India Limited has expanded its flagship CSR initiative, ‘Vrikshaaropan Abhiyan’, with a commitment to plant 14,000 native saplings across India by the end of the current financial year. Building on the success of the first phase, the initiative continues to promote healthy and sustained tree growth through scientific plantation practices and ongoing maintenance. In partnership with Vaghmi, 5,000 trees will be planted in Pune, while an additional 9,000 trees will be planted across Pune and Gurugram in collaboration with the Times Employ India Foundation. The initiative aims to strengthen urban green cover while contributing to climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and ecological restoration.

The second edition of Vrikshaaropan Abhiyan was launched today at Army Cantonment Land, Pune, in partnership with Vaghmi Foundation and Indian Army. As part of this phase, 5,000 native saplings will be planted and scientifically nurtured to improve air quality, reduce urban temperatures, enhance biodiversity and restore the local ecosystem. The initiative builds on the successful first phase undertaken at the Indian Army Land, Pune, where 5,000 native trees were planted under Tenneco’s CSR programme and have since been maintained by Vaghmi Foundation.

Environmental conservation is a key pillar of Tenneco’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme, with Vrikshaaropan Abhiyan promoting native plantations, urban ecosystem restoration and community participation. Implemented by Vaghmi Foundation through scientific plantation management, structured maintenance and continuous monitoring, the initiative aims to create lasting environmental impact while ensuring high sapling survival. With over 200 acres identified for phased urban greening, the programme lays the foundation for one of Pune’s significant urban green landscapes. Representatives from Tenneco Clean Air India Limited, Indian Army, Vaghmi Foundation, community leaders, environmentalists, volunteers and members of the media participated in the plantation drive at Army Cantonment Land, Pune.
