Pune: Khadakwasla Dam Discharge Increased to 43,571 Cusecs; Citizens Asked to Stay Away from Mutha River

Pune, 31st July 2026: The irrigation authorities on Friday increased the water discharge from Khadakwasla Dam into the Mutha River following a rapid rise in the reservoir’s water level due to heavy rainfall in the dam’s catchment area.

According to an official notification, the discharge from the dam’s spillway will be increased from 35,574 cusecs to 43,571 cusecs from 3 pm on July 31.

Officials said the outflow may be further increased or reduced depending on rainfall intensity and the volume of inflow into the reservoir.

The administration has appealed to residents to avoid entering the Mutha riverbed as the sudden increase in water discharge could pose a serious risk to life.

People have also been advised to immediately remove any materials, equipment or livestock from the riverbed and nearby low-lying areas.

Authorities have urged local officials to alert residents living in vulnerable areas along the river and take all necessary precautionary measures to ensure public safety.

Citizens have been requested to remain vigilant, follow official advisories and avoid venturing near the river until further notice.
