Shivajinagar, 24th April 2022: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) activists staged a protest at Bal Gandharva Chowk in Pune against the water shortage and tanker lobbies in the city.

Due to water scarcity, housing societies have to spend lakhs of rupees every month on tanker water supply.

AAP leader Vijay Kumbhar said that the PMC is collecting water tax from the citizens but not providing them water. In many parts of the city, people are still forced to buy water at exorbitant rates from tanker mafia.

According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), there are 40% water losses in the supply chain. However, activists say that PMC is lying and water is being supplied to builders and industrialists.
