Accident On Pune Solapur Highway Claims Two Lives, Injures Dozens As Bus Collides With Cement Truck In Patas
Daund, 26th October 2023: A horrifying accident took place today when a luxury travels bus, en route from Latur to Pune on the Pune Solapur National Highway, collided with a stationary cement transport truck at Patus Ghat in Daund taluka of Pune district, resulting in the death of two female passengers and injuries to several others.
The fatal collision occurred in the early hours of the morning, causing the bus to overturn. The impact was severe, with the left side of the bus completely crushed. Two female passengers lost their lives on the spot, and another individual suffered serious injuries. Also, thirty passengers sustained various degrees of injuries in the traumatic incident.
Police officer Sanjay Nagargoje of the Patas police post informed about the tragic incident. Prompt response by law enforcement included Police Inspector Hemant Shedge of Yawat Police Station, Sub-Inspector Sanjay Nagargoje of Patas Police Station, Sub-Inspector of Highway Police Mahesh Kondubhaire, and Srihari Pansare. With the help of citizens, injured passengers were evacuated from the bus and transported for medical treatment.
The accident left the road strewn with cement from the overturned truck, causing a disruption in traffic flow. The authorities had to divert traffic to alternative routes to manage the situation.
An investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem, and the seriously injured persons have been transferred to Sassoon Hospital for specialized treatment.
