Pune: Koregaon Park Cafe Raided for Noise Pollution, Sound System Seized by Pune Crime Branch

Koregaon Park, 26th October 2023: Responding to complaints from Koregaon Park residents regarding persistent late-night music, the Social Security Cell of the Pune Police Crime Branch conducted a raid on Chaurahe Ke Paar Cafe and Lounge. The rooftop restaurant’s sound system, allegedly producing music above 105 decibels, causing noise pollution, was confiscated during the operation.

The operation, spearheaded by Assistant Police Inspector Aniket Pote, was prompted by the grievances of Koregaon Park residents who reported disturbances caused by loud music continuing until the early hours. The confiscated sound system is estimated to be worth Rs 3 lakh.

An Assistant Commissioner of Police will lead an inquiry into the noise pollution case, submitting a detailed report to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board. Upon verification of the facts, Pollution Control Board officials will proceed to file an FIR at the police station.

Residents of Koregaon Park communicated their concerns about the constant loud music emanating from Chaurahe Ke Paar – Cafe & Lounge. Assistant Police Inspector Pote said that the raid took place on Wednesday night following a complaint indicating that loud music persisted after 10 pm.
