Pune, 14th May 2023: Pune Railway Station is an important station of the Central Railway. There is always a crowd of passengers at this station. Taking advantage of this crowd, some outsiders enter the station premises and sell food items to the passengers.

Along with this, the stall/canting holders located at the station also sell food items at the station from more vendors than allowed. But such hawkers are closely monitored by Railway Protection Force (RPF) and such persons are caught and prosecuted by the RPF Pune.

In the last few days, by running a special campaign, the RPF has caught people selling such food items and took necessary action. In the last three days, action was taken against a total of 40 vendors selling such food items, from whom the Railway Court, Pune has recovered a fine of Rs 25,600 and has also ordered punishment.

In the year 2023, under the Railway Act, a total of 873 persons were caught and produced before the Court, from whom a penalty of Rs 5,71,700 was recovered. They also received punishment.

Due to the summer season, the water demand has increased among the passengers, but the supply of water bottles on the rail is not being provided in sufficient quantity by IRCTC. Station stalls/canting holders sell bottled water. At present, permission has been given by the railway administration to sell water bottles of other nine companies at Pune station.

Afraid of this action, unauthorized hawking at Pune railway station is seen to be curbed completely.

In addition to its duty, RPF Pune has rescued a total of 92 minor children under ‘Operation Nanhe Farishte’ and handed them over to the Child Welfare Committee.

In the year 2023, action was taken against 16 persons under the Railway Act for taking more than the fixed price of tickets from passengers.
