Actor Sayaji Shinde Expresses Concern Over Alarming Rate Of Tree Cutting In Pune
Pune, 26th April 2023: Senior actor Sayaji Shinde raised concern over the cutting of trees due to ongoing development projects in Pune, such as the River Bank Improvement Scheme and the proposed Balbharti to Paud Phata Road.
Shinde met with members of the ‘Vetal Hill Rescue Action Committee’ at Kanchan Lane in Erandwane yesterday to discuss the issue and ongoing projects in the city.
Shinde emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and urged the administration to take citizens’ opinions into account. He expressed alarm at the rate of tree cutting in the city and stressed the need for continuous follow-up with the administration. Shinde is expected to meet with the Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar and the head of the concerned department in the coming days.
The meeting with the Vetal Hill rescue action committee focused on various issues related to environmental degradation, including saving the hill and preventing the proposed roads from DP. Prajakta Diwekar, Sachin Bahirat, Sushma Date, Paresh Lodha, Angad Patwardhan, Avanti Gadgil, and Harshvardhan Ranade were among those present.
