Ahmedabad, 13th June 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (13th June) visited the civil hospital to meet victims of the devastating Air India plane crash, including the sole survivor passenger, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a 40-year-old British national. Ramesh, who was on board the ill-fated flight with his brother, recounted the terrifying moments following the crash that killed 241 of the 242 people on board.

The London-bound Air India flight had taken off at approximately 1:38 pm when it tragically crashed just seconds after takeoff, colliding with the BJ Medical College hostel building.

During the hospital visit, PM Modi spoke with Ramesh, who clarified viral reports suggesting he had jumped out of the plane. “I did not jump,” Ramesh explained. “The impact threw me out of the aircraft along with my seat.”

A video of Ramesh, drenched in blood and walking toward an ambulance, went viral on social media hours after the crash, offering a grim glimpse into the aftermath.

According to Ramesh, he and his 45-year-old brother Ajay Kumar Ramesh had boarded the flight to return to the UK after a visit to their family in India. While Ajay was seated in a different row, Ramesh was in seat 11A.

“About thirty seconds after takeoff, I heard a loud noise and everything went dark. It all happened very quickly. When I regained consciousness, I saw dead bodies all around me. I was terrified,” Ramesh recounted from his hospital bed. “I stood up and started running. There was wreckage everywhere. Someone caught hold of me and put me in an ambulance.”

As investigations continue, authorities are focusing on retrieving the aircraft’s black box to determine the cause of the crash.
