Pimpri Chinchwad, 16th April 2024: Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Guardian Minister of Pune District, Ajit Pawar, has raised concerns about instances of mob rule and gang activity in Pune city and the nearby industrial regions. These issues have been affecting Human Resource (HR) Managers in the area, with reports indicating that new factories are being coerced into procuring gravel, sand, construction materials, labour, transport, scrap contracts, and water tankers from specific groups, often at the prices dictated by these groups. Pawar stated that he will instruct the relevant departments to address these issues.

Pawar made these remarks at a seminar titled ‘Challenges and Solutions Facing HR Managers in Pune and Nearby Industrial Areas’ organized by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Chakan Chapter of the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM). He emphasized that necessary measures will be taken to address the challenges HR managers face in industrial companies. Although he could not make any official announcements due to the election code of conduct, he committed to meeting with a delegation from NIPM to discuss the problems and potential solutions.

Pawar highlighted Pune’s leading position in the industrial sector, particularly as a manufacturing and information technology hub. He attributed the city’s appeal for industrial investment to its skilled workforce, quality educational institutions, and strong infrastructure. Pawar emphasized that Maharashtra, particularly Pune, is often the top choice for new industries looking to establish themselves in the country.

During the seminar, the NIPM, Mulshi Industrial Association, presented a written statement to Deputy Chief Minister Pawar detailing the issues HR managers face. Over four hundred HR managers from various companies in the industrial areas of Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Bhosari, Mulshi, Hinjawadi, Hadapsar, Baramati, and Jejuri were present at the event.
