Annual Exams for State Board Schools Across Maharashtra to Start April 11
Pune, 14th March 2026: The Maharashtra School Education Department has instructed all state board schools to conduct their annual examinations for the academic year 2025–26 between April 11 and April 22.
The directive applies to schools of all mediums and managements affiliated with the state board, including primary, secondary and higher secondary institutions as well as junior colleges. Authorities have asked schools to ensure that the examinations are organised within the specified timeframe.
According to a circular issued by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Maharashtra, the government has already conducted three rounds of student assessments during the academic year for classes II to VIII. These included a baseline test at the beginning of the year followed by two Periodic Assessment Tests (PAT 1 and PAT 2).
Officials said the upcoming annual examination will serve as the final academic evaluation for the current academic session.
Mahesh Palkar, Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, said the department has instructed education officials to monitor the examination process across schools.
“The instruction covers all primary, secondary and higher secondary schools as well as junior colleges under the state board. During the examination period, education officers at different levels will visit schools and monitor the conduct of the exams,” Palkar said.
He added that officials such as centre heads, extension officers, block education officers and deputy education officers will be required to submit reports to the Directorate of Education. These reports will include details about student enrolment and attendance during the examination period.
Authorities also stated that a separate mechanism for reporting attendance of students during the examinations will be communicated to schools in due course.
