Ashish Kasodekar From Pune All Set To Attempt Guinness World Record For Most Consecutive Days To Run A Marathon Distance

Pune, 17th November 2021: Long distance runner, long-distance cyclist, basketball player, travel entrepreneur a multi-faceted passionate sportsman who believes in and lives his motto of life: ‘think insane; stay raw’! 

Pune-based Ashish Kasodekar will be attempting Ultra Dynamo world’s longest multi-distance foot race for a Guinness world record of most consecutive days to run a marathon distance male (60full marathons in 60 days-28th Nov 20 to 26th Jan 21).

The plan to attempt for the Guinness World Record was announced today by Prof Dr Nitin Karmalkar, Vice-Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Vivek Kalkar Co-founder & MD of Traveltime Arvind Bijwe, Race Director and Founder of Ultra Dynamo and Ashish Kasodekar. Krishankumar Goel of Kohinoor Group, Mrunal Kalkar were present on the occasion.

Speaking to reporters Ashish Kasodekar and Arvind Bijwe said that this would be the first-ever edition of the world’s Longest Multi Distance Foot Race and also a Guinness World Record attempt race where any runner can get to run with Ashish Kasodekar who will be running 60 consecutive full marathons 42.195 between 28th November to 26th January 2022.

Prof Karmalkar said that SPPU would be proud hosts of the event and a limited number of runners could run on the beautiful campus of Savitribai Phule Pune University for 60 days with Ashish Kasodekar.

Arvind Bijwe, Race Director and Founder of Ultra Dynamo said, “We have been doing Making India Run campaign for last few years but Because of Covid last 18 months no Marathons and larger gatherings races happened, so we thought this 60 days 60 Marathons will be a good idea for runners to choose any day and participate. Marathon event helps runners to set their own fitness goals.”

Bijwe added that the running route is in Savitribai Phule Pune University (5km loop) and all runners who participate in the run for 60 days will get a timing certificate, finisher medal and timing chip and on-route support. The route is a certified measured course by world athletics in cooperation with AIMS. This is 60 days race a runner can choose any date. But If any runner would run 8 days or more than that in 60 days, he will get an Ultra Dynamo title memento.

Kelkar of Traveltime said, “This year being declared as “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” and keeping in lines with ‘Fit India Movement’, joining hands with Ashish for his attempt of making a Guinness World Record of running a full marathon for 60 consecutive days, was but obvious. Fitness in any form is the motto of my life and promoting fitness with all those associated with me was the main aim, then the idea grew bigger and took the shape of this event.”

 

Ashish is a self-made man living his life to the fullest. He started his journey as a Basketball player, although he has a penchant for all outdoor sports. Ashish also ventured into long-distance cycling and has covered 1000+ km distances. He is also known as a long-distance runner and holds various records in his name, the latest being ‘The first and only Indian to finish 555km La Ultra marathon in Ladakh’.

He is a travel entrepreneur who loves traveling himself and has traveled to various countries as a backpacker. Ashish is known for organizing off-beat, adventurous, customized tours for his clients through his firm Edgeover Holidays.

A true explorer of life, Ashish was one of the initial members of the HOG (Harley Owners Group) in India and rode across the country. He successfully completed the ‘Bum Burner’ ride in 2013 (to celebrate 11-12-2013). To cultivate the fitness regime in future generations, Ashish organizes a marathon for kids viz. Simple Steps Marathon.

Through his journey, across the sports he participated in, Ashish has demonstrated his performance as a strong team player and an exceptional individual winner!
