Pune, 14th October 2021: It has been decided to increase the fare of three-seater autorickshaws within the limits of the Pune Regional Transport Authority. From November 8, the fare will be Rs 20 for the first 1.5 km and Rs 13 for each subsequent km.

The authority has taken this decision as per the recommendations of the Khatua Committee. This hike will be applicable in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Baramati RTO limits. Earlier, the rate was Rs 18 for the first 1.5 km and Rs 12.19 for each subsequent km.

From November 8, autorickshaw drivers in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal limits will be able to charge an additional 25 per cent fare at the revised rate from midnight to 5 am. In rural areas other than the municipal area, 40 per cent additional fare will be charged during the night. If the passenger has 60 by 40 cm luggage or more size, a charge of Rs three per luggage will be applicable.

As the fare reform will be effective from November 8, the deadline for autorickshaw meter calibration is being extended from November 8 to December 31, 2021. The fare hike will apply only to rickshaws that have metered calibration in time. The license will be suspended for one day for each day delay with a minimum of seven days after expiration and a maximum of 40 days.

Autorickshaw owners wishing to pay a compromise fee instead of suspension will be charged Rs 50 per day, with a minimum of Rs 500 and a maximum of Rs 2,000, said the authority’s member secretary and Pune regional transport officer (RTO) Ajit Shinde.
