Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi Music Festival to be held between June 11th and 13th

Pune, June 7, 2022: The 9th edition of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Music Festival is being organized by Kalashree Sangeet Mandal with support from Abhijeet Gaikwad, President of The Aundh Social Foundation. This 3 day festival will be held June 11th and 13th at 5 pm at Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Kalamandir at Aundh. It will be inaugurated by Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole. Vocalists and musicians from the world of Indian Classical Music will perform at the festival. Entry to this festival is free on a first come first serve basis.

On Saturday June 11, the first day of the festival, Mansi Kulkarni Deshpande (Vocal) will start the program with her performance and will be accompanied by Nilesh Randive on tabla. After that, Yadnyesh Raikar will play the violin and will be accompanied by Pandurang Pawar on tabla. The first day will end with the performance of Pandit Shrinivas Joshi who will be accompanied by Gangadhar Shinde on harmonium and Kishor Korde on tabla.

On Sunday, June 12, the program will begin with the performance of the students of Kalashree Sangeet Mandal, followed by the performance of Yashasvi Sarpotdar, who will be accompanied by Umesh Purohit and Nilesh Randive on tabla. Later Pandit Aviraj Tayde will perform and he will be accompanied by Prabhakar Pandav on harmonium and Pandit Mukundraj Deo on tabla. The day will end with Dr. Purva Shah’s Kathak dance.

On June 13, Pandit Hemant Pendse will present his performance and will be accompanied by Uday Kulkarni on harmonium and Pranav Gurav on tabla. After that, Nandkishore Dhore will play the tabla and will be accompanied by Gangadhar Shinde on harmonium. The festival will conclude with the performance of Pandit Dr. Vikas Kashaalkar who will be accompanied by Praveen Kasalikar on harmonium and Prashant Pandav on tabla. Dr. Kishore Deshmukh will be awarded with the Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Award. The award is in the form of a cash prize of Rs.10000/- and a memento.
