BJP’s Murlidhar Mohol Promises Permanent Flood Control Measures for Pune’s Ambil Odha
Pune, 4th May 2024: Five years ago, citizens affected by the floods in the Ambil Odha endured significant hardship. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), under the leadership of then-Mayor Muralidhar Mohol, submitted an urban flood control plan to the Central Government.
Assuring the people, BJP Mahayuti candidate for the Pune Lok Sabha seat, Mohol, pledged that the Center would approve the plan and allocate approximately Rs. 250 crore to implement permanent flood control measures in the city, particularly targeting the Ambil Odha.
A padayatra was organized in Ambil Odha, Dattawadi, Navi Peth, and Parvati areas as part of Mohol’s campaign. During this initiative, Mohol gained insights into the issues faced by the residents of these regions.

Mohol highlighted, “The urban flood control scheme by the Centre encompasses Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. During my tenure as mayor, the Pune Municipal Corporation submitted the plan to the central government, which has been approved. Flood control projects worth Rs. 250 crore will be undertaken across various parts of the city, with a particular emphasis on preventing Ambil Odha floods.”
