Pune, 26th December 2023: As the nation gears up for the impending Lok Sabha general elections, political heavyweights in Pune, including former mayors Muralidhar Mohol and Jagdish Mulik, are flexing their political muscles in a bid to secure the Pune Lok Sabha constituency. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to consolidate its position, especially after the unfortunate demise of late MP Girish Bapat, which left the Pune Constituency vacant.

Former MLA Jagdish Mulik orchestrated a formidable display of influence by enhancing his public relations, organizing the compelling program of Dhirendra Shastri. Following suit, former Mayor Muralidhar Mohol showcased his political prowess through a grand event, presenting the Atal Sanskriti Award through his Sanskriti Pratishthan. Adding to the political dynamics, Sunil Deodhar, associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), is set to demonstrate his strength by hosting significant events in the city over the next two months.

Sunil Deodhar recently chaired a meeting in Pune, garnering substantial attendance from seasoned BJP workers. The forthcoming months will witness Deodhar’s strategic moves through three major events—Lata Mangeshkar Award, Rajmata Jijau Jayanti Festival, and Makar Sankranti—a meticulously planned showcase of political strength.

In the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP flag fluttered high over the Pune Lok Sabha constituency, with Anil Shirole and the late MP Girish Bapat securing victories in the wave of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. As speculation brews about the BJP’s candidate for the upcoming 2024 Pune Lok Sabha elections, attention is drawn to the potential candidacy of Bapat’s daughter-in-law, Swarada Bapat.

The BJP aims to secure over 40 MPs nationwide, with a special focus on Pune to maintain its stronghold in the region.
