Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis Advocates New Airport in Purandar for Pune’s Accelerated Growth

Pune, 26th December 2023: Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, emphasized the crucial necessity of a new airport in Purandar for the rapid development of Pune. Speaking at a program organized by the Maharashtra State Marathi Journalists Association yesterday, Fadnavis outlined the transformative impact a new airport could have on Pune, positioning it as a significant growth engine for the entire country.

Present at the event were key figures including Commissioner of Pune Metropolitan Area Development Authority (PMRDA) Rahul Mahiwal, Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Shekhar Singh, Group Editor of Pudhari Dr Yogesh Jadhav, Editor of Lokmat Sanjay Awte, Editor of Sakal Samrat Phadnis, Babasaheb Auti of Bhagwati Group, Sanjay Bhokare, organizer of Maharashtra State Marathi Journalist Association, and State president Kiran Joshi.

Fadnavis underscored Pune’s potential to be a growth hub in the coming two decades, citing its capacity to accommodate new-age industries. He emphasized ongoing priority development projects like the Ring Road and stressed the necessity of a new airport to further accelerate Pune’s progress. Fadnavis reassured citizens that any doubts they might have about the new airport project would be addressed and highlighted the prosperity that those contributing land for the airport would experience.

Continuing his discourse, Fadnavis revealed plans to discuss with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde the possibility of offering discounted interest rates on home loans for journalists, ensuring affordable housing options. Recognizing the increased diversity and numbers in the media industry, Fadnavis urged the importance of stability in the lives of young men and women working in this sector.
