Bollywood Mourns as Legendary Actor Dharmendra Passes Away at 89
Mumbai, 24th November 2025: Indian cinema is mourning the loss of one of its most cherished and celebrated icons, Dharmendra, who passed away at the age of 89 after a prolonged battle with illness. The veteran actor—admired for his warmth, humility, and magnetic screen presence—breathed his last in Mumbai, marking the end of an extraordinary six-decade-long cinematic journey.
Sources at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital confirmed that the actor had been undergoing treatment for respiratory complications and was placed on ventilator support earlier this month. Though he showed brief improvement and was discharged on November 12, his condition deteriorated again, ultimately leading to his demise.
Film Fraternity Unites to Bid Him Farewell
Dharmendra’s final rites are being conducted at the Vile Parle Crematorium, where senior members of the film industry have gathered to pay their last respects.
Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Salim Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, and several other prominent personalities reached the crematorium, reflecting the immense love and admiration the industry held for him.
His daughter Esha Deol, alongside close family members, performed the final rituals as fans gathered outside, hoping to catch one last glimpse of the superstar they revered for generations.

Director Karan Johar called Dharmendra’s passing “the end of an era,” describing him as “a true megastar and a remarkable human being whose legacy will remain unmatched.”

A Stellar Career Etched in Indian Cinema
Born Dharam Singh Deol on December 8, 1935, Dharmendra rose to become one of Bollywood’s most adored stars, featuring in over 300 films. Renowned for his versatility, he excelled across genres—romance, comedy, drama, and action—earning the title of Bollywood’s original “He-Man.”
His unforgettable performances in classics such as Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Satyakam, Phool Aur Patthar, and numerous others secured his place among the greatest actors in Indian cinema.
One of his final on-screen appearances will be in the upcoming film Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat. The makers released a new poster of the film earlier today, adding emotional poignancy to the moment.
