Young Innovator Arjit More Bridges Science and Society with ‘Jigyasa’
Pune, 19th November 2025: “The Central Government’s vision and the aspiration of every Indian—is to see India emerge as a developed nation by 2047. This transformation will be impossible without deep public engagement in science and technology. With his book ‘Jigyasa’, young researcher Arjit More has meaningfully connected scientific thinking with communication. His work will undoubtedly inspire school students across the country,” said Dr. Ashish Lele, Director of the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), CSIR, on Wednesday.
At a special ceremony held in NCL’s auditorium, ‘Jigyasa: From Curiosity to Clarity’, authored by school student Arjit Amol More, was officially released by Dr. Lele and Shri Rajendra Pawar, Director (Human Resources), Mahavitaran.
The event was graced by NCL scientists Dr. Wafia Masih, Dr. Narendra Kadu, Dr. M. Kartikeyan, Dr. Mahesh Dharane, Dr. Rakesh Joshi, Dr. Rajesh Gonnade, Dr. Shubhangi Umberkar, along with Mahavitaran’s Shri Amol More, Dr. Santosh Patni, and Shri Nishikant Raut.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the initiative ‘Jigyasa – One Day as a Scientist’ to give school students hands-on exposure to scientific research. Under this initiative, Mumbai-based student Arjit More spent a full day as a scientist at CSIR–NCL Pune. His experience formed the foundation of this inspiring book, written in simple language for young learners.
“Every student must read Arjit’s book,” said Rajendra Pawar. “Arjit has beautifully presented the scientific curiosity of student life and its real-world meaning. This book will motivate countless school students to step into the world of research.”
Speakers and scientists at the event praised Arjit’s curiosity, observation skills, and commitment to scientific inquiry.
A recipient of the District INSPIRE Award 2025 and the Homi Bhabha Young Scientist Gold Medal 2024, Arjit already has three international research publications to his credit. He has developed impactful innovations such as the Illumbrella, Spinogear, and Gutterguard—all designed with social usefulness in mind.
His book features 11 chapters that explain how he explored fields like DNA sequencing, sustainable chemistry, artificial intelligence, and environmental science. Arjit also highlights how the Jigyasa initiative and the mentorship of scientists played a crucial role in shaping his scientific outlook. The Marathi edition of this book will be released soon.
