Pune, 24th April 2025: Hundreds gathered at the Vaikunth crematorium in Navi Peth on Thursday to pay their final respects to Santosh Jagdale, a Karvenagar resident who was among the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.

The atmosphere was heavy with grief as Jagdale’s daughter, Asavari, led the funeral procession, wearing the same clothes stained with blood from the day of the attack. Her silent but powerful gesture served as a haunting reminder of the horror the family endured.

Jagdale, an interior designer by profession, was on a holiday in Kashmir with his wife Pragati and daughter Asavari. Their friends, Kaustubh and Sangita Ganbote from Kondhwa, had joined them on the trip. Both Jagdale and Ganbote lost their lives in the brutal terror strike that shocked the nation.

The bodies of the two victims reached Pune in the early hours of the day, around 5:30 am, at the Pune International Airport. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol and MoS Madhuri Misal were present to receive the mortal remains. From the airport, the bodies were taken to their homes, where relatives, friends, and citizens gathered in large numbers to offer tributes.

In a heart-wrenching appeal, Jagdale’s 84-year-old mother demanded strong retaliatory action. “Pakistan took my son away from me,” she said, holding back tears. “I appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to bomb Pakistan. I say this with folded hands. I am 84. I want to see action taken while I am still alive.”

The family’s anguish reflects the deep emotional scars left behind by the attack, as well as growing public outcry for a stronger national response.
