New Delhi/Phuket, 13th June 2025: An Air India flight traveling from Thailand’s Phuket Island to Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing on Friday (13th June) following a bomb threat. The aircraft, flight AI-379, was carrying 156 passengers when the threat was reported mid-air.

According to an official quoted by Reuters, the plane landed safely without incident. The flight had taken off from Phuket Airport at 9:30 am local time (0230 GMT), but after circling over the Andaman Sea, it was instructed to return to Phuket as a precautionary measure.

Flight tracking service ‘Flightradar24’ showed the aircraft’s unusual flight path, which included a large loop over the sea before turning back. Authorities immediately initiated security protocols upon landing, though no explosives were found at the time of reporting.

This incident came shortly after another Air India aircraft en route to London was forced to return to Mumbai after remaining airborne for nearly three hours. The flight had departed from Mumbai at 5:39 am, but was diverted mid-flight.

Air India, in an official statement, also addressed broader disruptions to its international services. Due to heightened geopolitical tensions in Iran and the temporary closure of its airspace, several flights are being rerouted or instructed to return to their origin airports for safety reasons.
