Khadki, 7th February 2026: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two officials of the Military Engineer Services (MES), Khadki, on charges of seeking and accepting a bribe from a contractor. The accused include an Assistant Garrison Engineer (E/M-II) and a Junior Engineer (E/M-II).
According to the agency, the case was registered on February 3 following a complaint from a representative of a private firm executing MES projects. The complainant, who holds a power of attorney for the company, alleged that despite completing the assigned work and submitting the required completion certificates, payments were deliberately delayed.
“The officials allegedly demanded ₹6 lakh as illegal gratification to clear the bills. After negotiations, the amount was reduced to ₹2 lakh as the first instalment,” a CBI official said.
Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap on February 5 and caught the Junior Engineer red-handed while he was receiving ₹2 lakh from the complainant inside his office. The bribe money was recovered on the spot. The Assistant Garrison Engineer was later taken into custody for his alleged involvement in the conspiracy.
During subsequent searches at the residences and offices of the accused, the CBI seized documents and unaccounted cash amounting to ₹1.88 lakh.
A CBI press release stated, “The investigation is ongoing, and further details will emerge as the probe progresses.”
