CBI Registers FIR Against Sameer Wankhede, Accused Of Extorting 50 Lakhs In Aryan Khan Case

Mumbai, 12th May 2023: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken action in the high-profile drugs-on-cruise case by registering a case against Sameer Wankhede, the former Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai Zone, along with several others.

The case has been registered based on a complaint from NCB Delhi, and the CBI will now conduct an enquiry and investigation into the matter.

The accused individuals named in the case are as follows:
I. Sameer Wankhede, IRS, former Zonal Director, NCB Mumbai Zone II. Vishwa Vijay Singh, former Superintendent, NCB III. Ashish Ranjan, former Intelligence Officer of Mumbai Zonal Unit, NCB IV. K. P. Gosavi (private person) V. Sanvile D’Souza (private person) VI. Other unknown individuals

According to the allegations, the accused officials of the NCB Mumbai Zone conspired with others to seek undue advantage in the drug case (Case No. 94/2021) related to the Cordelia cruise ship. It is claimed that they obtained bribes from the alleged accused in the case under the supervision of the then Zonal Director, Sameer Wankhede.

The incident is said to have occurred on 2nd October 2021 when information was received regarding the possession and consumption of narcotics substances on a private cruise ship. It is alleged that the accused individuals conspired to extort approximately Rs 25 crore from the family members of the accused by threatening them with charges of narcotics possession. As per the allegations, a bribe of Rs 50 lakh was obtained as part of this conspiracy.

In connection with the case, simultaneous searches are being conducted at 29 locations across Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi, Lucknow, Chennai, Guwahati, and other cities. These searches have resulted in the recovery of incriminating documents, articles, and cash.

The CBI’s involvement in this case brings a new dimension to the ongoing investigation, raising questions about the conduct of the NCB officials and the integrity of the drug case against Aryan Khan, the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The case has garnered significant public attention and media scrutiny, and the CBI’s inquiry is expected to shed light on the alleged bribery and conspiracy surrounding the matter.
