Pune, 5th August 2020: The Bihar government had requested for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death because the investigation of the Mumbai police was not bringing forth any kind of answers.

As the CBI falls under the jurisdiction of the Central government, the Centre has accepted the plea of the Bihar government and transferred the probe to the CBI.

In the Supreme Court (SC), Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said on Wednesday that the Centre has accepted the request of the Bihar government and is transferring the case to the CBI. The SC has also given an ultimatum to the Mumbai police to prepare a report on their investigation so far in three days and hand it over to the central agency.

This matter was handed over to the CBI because no proper investigation was being carried out by the Mumbai police and they were completely nonchalant in their approach. However, when a team from Bihar police came to investigate in the matter, they were ‘forcibly quarantined’ and a territorial battle broke out between the two.

Also, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the SC requesting a CBI probe monitored by the court into the suicide of Sushant’s ex-manager Disha Salian. The PIL alleges that the deaths of Sushant and Disha are interlinked.
