Center Bans Direct Vaccine Purchase From Private Hospitals, Monthly Stock Limit Will Be Fixed, Know Formula

New Delhi, 30th June 2021: The government has made an important change in the vaccination campaign against coronavirus. From July 1, private hospitals can no longer buy vaccines directly from vaccine manufacturers. Now one has to order the vaccine on Covin. Not only this, but the central government has also decided to fix the limit of the monthly stock of vaccines. The Center has also prepared a formula to decide the maximum dosage that the private hospital should stock in a month.
According to the Times of India, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) document has reached the hospitals of Mumbai on Tuesday, according to which the average vaccine consumption in private hospitals in the last month will be twice that of daily. However, private hospitals will be free to choose the week of their choice to calculate the daily average for the vaccine. The details for this will be taken from the Covin portal.
The document states that the maximum limit of one month can be revised in the second fortnight depending on the consumption of the vaccine during the first 15 days.
In addition, for hospitals that are currently planning to participate in the vaccination campaign and do not have a prior record of vaccine consumption, the vaccine selling will be based on the number of beds available.
A 50-bed hospital can order a maximum of 3,000 doses, while a 50-the 300-bed hospital can order up to 6,000 doses and a 300-bed hospital can order up to 10,000 doses. The SOP document states that private immunization centres can order the vaccine in four instalments in a month.
