Central Railway’s Pune Division Earns Over Rs 16 Crore From Sale Of Scrap Material In Five Months
Pune 18th Sept 2023: The Pune division of Central Railway has earned a remarkable revenue by selling the scrap material in the last five months. The scrap material sold under the railway’s ‘Zero Scrap Mission’ has added an additional revenue to the division.
According to the officials, scrap worth Rs 16.8 Crore was sold in the Pune division between April and August. This includes scap sold from different workshops and departments. As per the policy, railways avoid travelling the scrap material from one place to other to avoid the travel expenses and the material sold on the spot. The purchasers have to lift it from the spot itself after they win bids through an online bidding process.
In Pune city, the scrap material is sold from Ghorpadi Coaching Center and Diesel Shed. Material such as parts of old tracks, batteries, copper, parts of coaches etc. are sold in the scrap. It may be noted that the Central Railway had earlier released the number of revenue generated by selling the scrap in different divisions.The Central Railway has earned Rs 150.81 Crore between April and August this year by selling the scrap material.
