Chetichand Festival: A Vibrant Showcase of Sindhi Culture

Pune, 13th April 2024: The vibrant spirit of Sindhi culture illuminated the recent celebration of the 1074th Birth Anniversary of Lord Sai Jhulelal and the Sindhi New Year, hosted with fervour by the Sindhu Seva Dal. Held at the picturesque banquet hall and grounds of Deccan College in Yerawada, the festivities commenced with the auspicious worship of Lord Sai Jhulelal’s image, setting the tone for a day filled with music, bhajans, and culinary delights.

The event unfolded with a myriad of cultural activities, resonating bhajans, and a feast for the senses with delectable delicacies. Attendees reverently sang devotional aartis dedicated to Lord Sai Zhulelal, invoking blessings with the sacred ‘Ayo Lal Zhulelal’ chant and engaging in traditional rituals. Dance performances and soulful bhajans honoring Sai Julelal added to the enchanting ambiance, eliciting smiles and jubilation from every Sindhi brother and sister in attendance.

A highlight of the celebration was the captivating live concert, featuring acclaimed singers Shubham Nathani from Mumbai, Drashti Kukreja from Nagpur, and master Harshal from Rajasthan, accompanied by a mesmerizing performance by Bhagyashree Daryani from Jaipur.

Additionally, the talented children of Generation Next Dance Academy showcased their skills in a spellbinding dance performance, culminating in a delightful feast (Mahaprasad). Over 4500 members of the Sindhi community from Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and neighboring areas partook in the jubilant festivities.

The event also provided an opportunity to honor distinguished guests, including the Founder Director of Aswani Promoters and Builders, Srichand Aswani, and Retired Associate Professor of BJ Medical College, Dr. Lachmandas Ferwani. Recognition was extended to the commendable social work of the Mukul Madhav Foundation and ANP Care Foundation. Among the esteemed attendees were Sindhu Seva Dal President Ashok Vaswani, Founder Member Ishwar Kripalani, Ex-President Manohar Ferwani, and other notable members, including Suresh Jethwani, Peeter Dalwani, Deepak Wadhvani, and vice president Purushottam Paryani, to name a few.

In his address, Ashok Vaswani underscored Sindhu Seva Dal’s unwavering commitment over 37 years to preserving and promoting Sindhi traditions, fostering unity and joy within the community. Suresh Jethwani expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response to the Chetichand festival, while Sachin Talreja extended thanks on behalf of the organizers for the resounding success of the event.
