Chhaava Set To Break Gadar 2 Lifetime Collection Record

Mumbai, 6th March 2025: Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar, has been a box office sensation since its release on Valentine’s Day.
The film has already amassed ₹359 crore in India and is now just ₹41 crore away from surpassing the lifetime collection of Gadar 2 (₹400 crore). With its consistent performance, Chhaava is poised to rewrite box office history as one of the highest-grossing Hindi films.
The movie opened to ₹31 crore on its first day and witnessed significant growth over the weekend, collecting ₹37 crore on Saturday and ₹48.5 crore on Sunday. Despite a slight dip on Monday, it maintained strong weekday collections, earning ₹24.5 crore on Tuesday alone.
The film continues to dominate in Maharashtra, with Pune recording a remarkable 69% occupancy rate across 705 shows and Mumbai seeing 54% occupancy across 1,419 shows.
Produced by Maddock Films, Chhaava tells the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and his valiant resistance against Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Vicky Kaushal plays the titular role, supported by Rashmika Mandanna as his wife and Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb.
The film also features Ashutosh Rana and Vineet Kumar Singh in pivotal roles. Inspired by Shivaji Sawant’s literary work Chhava, the film has received praise for its performances and AR Rahman’s powerful score.
Trade analysts credit the film’s success to its gripping storyline, stellar cast, and strong word-of-mouth reviews. Film critic Rajeev Sharma commented, “Chhaava has struck a chord with audiences nationwide. Its emotional depth and historical significance have made it a must-watch.”
Globally, Chhaava has also made waves, earning $25 million (₹205 crore approx.) within six days of release. It ranked sixth in Comscore’s list of top-grossing films worldwide for the weekend ending February 16.
With its current momentum, industry experts believe Chhaava will easily cross the ₹400-crore mark in India within the next few days. Fans and critics alike await this milestone as the film continues its triumphant run at the box office.
