Pune, 19th January 2024: In anticipation of the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22, the All India Jamiatul Quresh Action Committee (AIJQAC) has announced the closure of chicken and mutton shops in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad on that day.

AIJQAC is not just restricting its activities to closures but has also planned celebratory festivities. Sadiq Qureshi, the AIJQAC chief for Western Maharashtra, stated in a press release, “On January 22, the Qureshi community in Pune will suspend their businesses to participate in the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. This is a joyous occasion for the community, as Lord Ram is revered across religions.”

Taking the celebration spirit further, AIJQAC intends to distribute laddus and pedhas as a gesture of communal joy following the ceremony.

In a notable collective decision in Kunjirwadi village, Pune, residents have collectively agreed not to consume non-vegetarian food on January 22. Following a meeting led by the village’s sarpanch, local chicken, mutton, and liquor shops voluntarily decided to remain closed on this day. This move reflects a shared commitment to fostering a celebratory atmosphere and respecting the sentiments of those participating in the ceremony.

As the consecration ceremony draws near, individuals from various regions and diverse religious backgrounds are converging on Ayodhya. Motivated by their faith in Lord Ram and inspired by the prevailing religious fervor in the country, they express a desire to be part of this historic day and convey a message of love and unity.
