Pune, 22nd October 2021: Some permission is yet to be obtained for the commencement of the Shivajinagar-Hinjawadi metro line in Pune city. These permissions will be granted within a week. Therefore, the work of this metro line will be started after Diwali, announced Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar while talking to reporters in Pune today.

The flyover has been demolished on the advice of experts to ease traffic congestion at University Chowk. Puneites should not have this problem for at least the next 50 years, so this decision has been taken unanimously. But now the bridge will be built on the metro line using the least number of pillars. This will ease the traffic congestion and help in smoothing the flow of traffic again, said Pawar.

Ajit Pawar reviewed the situation in Corona in the Pune district today. He was speaking to reporters after the review meeting. Speaking on the occasion, he announced the start of work on the metro line.

“The flyover was constructed in 2006. Many defects remained during its construction. The Metro will also run from here. Experts have reported that the construction of the flyover is causing traffic jams. According to the report of the two organizations, the least number of pillars will be erected to ease the traffic in the area”, said Pawar.

He also said that instructions have been given to Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao to streamline traffic planning while the construction of the metro line is underway.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has been requested to inaugurate the work of this metro line, Pawar said.
