Children’s Theatre Festival to be organized in Pune
Pune, 19 January 2019: Kaveri Kalakshetra of Kaveri Group of Institute is organizing Kaveri Children’sTheatre Festival in association with International Association for Performing Arts and Research (IAPAR).
The Festival is an effort to present the best theatre for young audiences with performances that are deeply engaging, innovative and inspiring. The Festival intends to bring 3 days of professional theatre for children to our city from January 22 to 24, at 6:30 pm daily, at Shakuntala Jagannath Shetty Auditorium, Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School, Erandwane. The festival is ticketed.
On the first day of the festival i.e. January 22, ‘The Balancing Act’ will be presented by IAPAR. This performance looks at violence and abuse as seen and experienced by young children in day-to-day life. The questions raised in this play seem to apply to many of the struggles of a whole generation, no matter the age.
On January 23, the second day of the festival ‘Jamba Bamba Bo’ will be presented by Maharashtra Cultural Centre, Pune. Taking off from ‘Rudyard Kipling’s ‘Jungle book’, the play has a simple storyline. Bagheera takes Mowgli to a school to get him admitted. The admission form has various columns. Bagheera manages to find information for everything except a column named ‘religion’.
On January 24, the last day of the festival ‘Hanuman Ki Ramayan’ will be presented by Gillo Repertory Theatre (Mumbai). Hanuman Ki Ramayan is based on a short story by Dr.Devdutt Pattanaik. It is presented in nautanki form (saangeet).
