CHRIST University Pune Hosts THEMIS 2026 National Moot Court Competition

Pune, 29th March 2026: The School of Law at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, hosted its flagship event, THEMIS – 6th Moot Court Competition 2026, from March 27 to 29, bringing together law students from across the country to compete in a national-level advocacy contest.

The competition featured a prize pool of Rs 3 lakh and included individual awards for Best Speaker, Best Researcher and Best Memorial. The moot proposition for the 2026 edition centred on contemporary issues related to constitutional law, federalism and data governance, encouraging participants to analyse and debate evolving legal challenges.

A total of 30 teams participated in the competition, including more than 10 National Law Schools from different parts of India. The preliminary and quarter-final rounds were evaluated by experienced faculty members and advocates, ensuring a rigorous and fair assessment process.

The semi-final rounds were judged by Md Zafar Imam, former Principal Judge and former Presiding Officer of the Debt Recovery Tribunal, and Pankaj Kapoor, Director of Quadraant Legal.

The final round was adjudicated by an eminent panel comprising former High Court judge and former Lokayukta Justice Ashim Kumar Roy, former Principal Judge and Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jyotsna Yagnik, and Prof. (Dr.) Subir Kumar Roy, professor and former Officiating Registrar of a State University. Their legal expertise and insights added depth to the competition and provided valuable learning for participants.

National Law University, Jodhpur emerged as the winner of THEMIS 2026, while the Institute of Law, Nirma University secured the runner-up position.

The event concluded with a valedictory ceremony graced by former Chief Justice of India Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, whose presence added prestige to the occasion and inspired the participating students.

THEMIS 2026 concluded on a high note, fostering legal research, advocacy skills and academic excellence among law students from across India.
