City based Manovikas Prakashan honored by The Federation of Indian Publishers

Pune, September 5, 2018: The Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP), Delhi has a scheme to give ‘Awards for Excellence in Book Production’ this year city based Manovikas Prakashan took home three awards in this category. They were felicitated with Certificate and a memento.

The award was presented at the hands of Amit Khare, Secretary, Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry at a function at Delhi Book Fair held at New Delhi. Ashish Patkar, Director Manovikas Prakashan received the award on behalf of Manovikas Prakashan. Ramesh K Mittal, President FIP, Monica Malhotra Kandhari, Vice President (North), FIP, Raj Kumar, Vice President (East), FIP, Himashu Gupta, Vice President (South), FIP, Anil Gala, Vice President (East), FIP, Ashok Gupta, Hony. General Secretary, FIP, Pranav Gupta, Hony. Joint Secretary and Naveen Gupta, Hony. Trasurer graced the occasion with their presence.

Second Prize was awarded to Manoviaks Pubication for the book ‘Sasulya’ under the children’s category (6-11 years) written by Prasad Manerikar. Another Second Prize was awarded to ‘Drashta Abhiyanta Sir Vishwesharayya’ under the category Scientific and Technical/Medical Book written by Mukund Dahrashivkar. A Merit of Certificate was provided for ‘Hindu Rashtravad – Swatantryaveer Savarkarancha ani Rashtriya Swaya Sevak Sanghacha’ book written by Dr. Raosahib Kasbe under the Text book and Reference book category.

Presenting the award Khare said, there was a need for a national book publishing policy. “There is a need for a coherent policy by taking into account changes in technology, the digital challenge and other factors. If India wants to become a knowledge superpower, it is vital to develop the book publishing industry. Otherwise, publishers from abroad will crush us.”

The Federation of Indian Publishers is the representative body of publishers in English, Hindi and other regional languages with its membership from all over India, representing more than 80 percent of the publishing industry. The Federation has also instituted the Distinguished Publishers Award and Distinguished Women Publishers Award for selected women publishers. The Federation also gives Freedom to Publish Award to a publisher, who shows courage to publish controversial books without fear of the wrath of the fundamentalists or any action by the state. The Federation has also instituted the Young Publishers Award, the Award for Distinguished Editors and Designers, the Award for Distinguished Translators and the Award for ‘Books on Books
