CM Devendra Fadnavis, DCM Ajit Pawar to Inaugurate Amalner-Beed New Railway Line in Pune Division on September 17

Pune, 16 September 2025: The Amalner(B)–Beed new railway line will be inaugurated on 17 September 2025 with the flagging off of the inaugural train from Beed to Ahilyanagar at Beed Railway Station. The event will be attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar (also Guardian Minister of Beed), Minister of Environment & Climate Change and Animal Husbandry Pankaja Munde, along with other dignitaries.

The inauguration coincides with Marathwada Mukti Sangram Din, observed on 17 September every year to mark the integration of Marathwada with the Indian Union in 1948 after the victory of the Indian Armed Forces over the Nizam of Hyderabad.

Project Background

The 67.78 km Amalner(B)-Beed broad gauge line is part of the 261.25 km Ahilyanagar-Beed-Parli Vaijnath new broad gauge line project.

The 99.03 km Ahilyanagar-Amalner(B) section has already been commissioned with regular train services.

Construction of the new line included 15 major bridges, 90 minor bridges, 15 Road Over Bridges, 31 Road Under Bridges, and 5 stations.

The project cost is shared on a 50:50 basis between Indian Railways and the Government of Maharashtra.

Benefits of the Project

Provides rail connectivity to the hinterland and previously unserved areas of the Marathwada region.

Enhances socio-economic and industrial development of traditionally drought-prone areas.

Improves connectivity to stations on the section Beed, Rajuri(Navgan), Raimoha, Vighanwadi, Jatnandur, and Amalner(B).

Offers affordable and eco-friendly transportation for students, traders, and daily commuters.

Regional Importance

Ahilyanagar district is known for agricultural produce and pilgrimage centers such as Sai Baba temple in Shirdi and Shani temple in Shingnapur, along with tourist spots like Bhandardara Dam, Kalsubai Peak, Randha Waterfall, and Rehekuri Kalveet Sanctuary.

Beed district is historically and religiously significant, home to the Vaijnath Jyotirlinga at Parli, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas visited by lakhs of devotees annually, along with several other religious sites.

The commissioning of the Ahilyanagar–Beed section is part of the larger Ahilyanagar-Beed-Parli Vaijnath railway project, aimed at strengthening connectivity in the Marathwada region.
