Coronavirus: Wakad among top 5 COVID hotspots in PCMC

Pimpri, June 11, 2020: The total number of Coronavirus positive patients in Wakad area reached 49 on Wednesday night. 19 of them have recovered while one person has died. At present 29 people are undergoing treatment.

 

There are currently six containment zones in the Wakad area. These include Sadguru Colony, Mauli Chowk in Kalatenagar, Kamlakar chowk, Mankar Empire, Bella Vista and Nyanprabha School area.

Wakad is the area between the western part of the Aundh-Ravet BRTS route and the eastern part of the Mumbai-Bangalore highway i.e. the Dehuroad-Katraj bypass road. The original village is situated on the banks of a Mula river. However, it has now been extended from Dange Chowk on Chinchwad-Hinjewadi road to Bhumkar Vasti. The area is home to the majority of IT employees, retired officers, police, workers and big housing societies.

 

Corona infection, which was confined to the Kaverinagar police line area, has now been spread in several areas. Earlier COVID patients were detected in Kaspatevasti and Dange Chowk area also. The administration has appealed residents to wear a mask and use hand sanitizer regularly to stop the spread of Coronavirus in the area.

 

Till yesterday, the number of COVID19 patients in Pimpri Chinchwad reached 932 out of which 16 have died while 507 have recovered. There are still 409 active patients undergoing treatment in different hospitals. The total number of COVID patients has reached 288 in Chinchwad (Anandnagar mostly), 112 in Pimpri, 82 in Akurdi, 69 in Bhosari and 49 in Wakad.
