Couple Dupes Over 300 Shopkeepers In Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad By Faking Online Transactions, Case Registered

Pune 10th Sept 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad’s Crime Branch officials have arrested a man from Lohegaon for allegedly duping the shopkeepers in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad by faking the online transactions. The accused was arrested after one of the shopkeepers lodged a complaint with the police and during the investigation in the case the police traced the wifi connection that belonged to the accused, which was used with the mobile number to dup the victims.

 

According to police, the accused and his wife have duped over 300 shopkeepers in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad in the last few months and a total of 10 such cases registered with the police have been solved with the arrest. The accused identified as Ganesh Shankar Borse (34) has been arrested in the case but his wife is yet to be arrested, said officials.

 

The accused were using a fake application for National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT) transfer and were showing the screenshot by claiming to have transferred money after shopping at the shops. They even gave their cellphone number to the shopkeeper if the amount is not credited to their account. However, the mobile number was switched off due to which the victims failed to connect the accused and one of them reached out to police to lodge a complaint after realising that he has been duped.
