Pune, 28th May 2021: The second wave of Coronavirus disease (COVID19) is dying down in Pune city. However, some citizen might feel that all is fine now and they can venture out any way they want; which is not the case. It is still mandatory to wear a mask on the background of corona infection.
Police are taking punitive action if a person is seen roaming around without a mask. In one such case, Rahul Tripathi, cricketer and IPL player for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise was travelling in a car in Pune around noon today. When stopped at the police check-post, he said, “my name is Rahul Tripathi and I play for KKR.”
Commenting on the action, Kondhwa police station’s sub-inspector Santosh Sonawane said, “While doing the duty at one of the checkpoints, a man in a four-wheeler was seen without a mask. He said that he was a well know personality. However, no one is above the law; hence, all we said was that you have to pay a fine and then he paid a fine of Rs 500.”
