Pune, 19th September 2025: A suspended police constable has approached Bharati Vidyapeeth police with a complaint against a woman from Alandi Road, accusing her of extorting ₹1.72 lakh over the course of a year.

According to police, the 31-year-old constable claimed the woman befriended him in November 2023, expressed romantic interest, and later began demanding money and valuables. When he refused to pay an additional ₹5 lakh, she allegedly threatened to implicate him in a rape case.

In February this year, she went ahead and registered a rape complaint against him at Vishrantwadi police station.

Bharati Vidyapeeth police are now investigating his allegations. Senior Inspector Rahul Khilare said, “Preliminary inquiries have revealed that the woman had previously registered two extortion-related cases in Nanded, in 2017 and 2022. Her modus operandi involves connecting with men through dating apps, professing love, and promising marriage before threatening them with false complaints to extort money and valuables.”

Police added that the woman is active on dating platforms and is suspected of targeting multiple men using the same approach.
