Decision Regarding Reopening Of School In Pune Will Be Taken After Next Week's Review Meeting: Ajit Pawar

Pune, 22nd January 2022: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today informed that “Considering the rising infection rate of coronavirus in the Pune district, a decision on starting of schools will be taken after next week’s review meeting”.

He also said that to avoid inconvenience to the players, a swimming pool should be started for the athletes and those who have taken two doses of vaccines.

In a meeting held at the Divisional Commissioner’s Office, Pawar reviewed the situation in the district. Deputy Speaker of Legislative Council Dr Nilam Gorhe, MP Vandana Chavan, Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, Pimpri Chinchwad Mayor Usha Dhore, Zilla Parishad President Nirmala Pansare, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh were present for the meeting.

“Citizens should be allowed to visit the site of Bhimashankar Devasthan. A decision on the Lenyadri temple will be taken soon. Along with this, small businesses should be allowed to start their businesses in tourist destinations”, the Deputy Chief Minister further added.

A decision was made for the booster dose of vaccine, in which Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) decided to give priority to the vaccination of senior citizens on Saturday and Sunday. Pawar also advised increasing the rate of vaccination of children in the age group of 15 to 18 in the municipal area. Industrial establishments were also instructed to give two doses of vaccine to the workers.

“The Covid Care Centers should be set up, even if most citizens are receiving treatment at home. Care should be taken that covid patients do not suffer due to lack of treatment. Private hospitals should also be instructed to provide treatment facilities to covid patients. Proper planning of available beds should be considered against the backdrop of the increasing spread of the virus”, said Pawar.

In the meeting, Divisional Commissioner Rao informed the data about the situation in the district through a presentation. The number of patients in the district has increased by 32,922 as compared to last week. 51% of children between the ages of 15 and 18 have been vaccinated for the first time. A 275-bed covid care centre has been started at Rakshak Nagar Sports Complex under PMC. The district has completed 108% vaccination of the first dose and 77% vaccination of the second dose. The data shows that a fine of Rs 34.55 lakh has been collected by taking action against the citizens who violated covid rules.

The meeting was also attended by MLA Ashok Pawar, Dilip Mohite, Sunil Shelke, Siddharth Shirole, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil, Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash, Pune Police Joint Commissioner Ravindra Shisve, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Ayush Prasad, District Superintendent of Police Dr Abhinav Deshmukh along with people’s representatives and officials.

Before the meeting, an ambulance donated by District Planning Committee member Santosh Kanchan for Uruli Kanchan village was inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister. Santosh Kanchan conducts public activities on the occasion of his birthday every year.

In the presence of the Deputy Chief Minister, 300 blankets were donated by Shri Prayagdham Trust at Uruli Kanchan for the poor citizens of the city. The organization has always cooperated for public works.

Pawar said that these blankets will be useful for the poor on cold days.
