New Delhi, 11th November 2023: Due to the escalating pollution levels, Delhi University has declared winter holidays from 13th November 2023 to 19th November 2023. The anticipated winter break scheduled for December has been advanced to provide relief to students immediately. Consequently, all colleges and institutions affiliated with DU will remain closed from 13th November to 19th November post-Diwali. However, exams and interviews scheduled during these dates will proceed as per their respective timetables.

The official notification regarding this decision has been released on the Delhi University website, and students can check the details on the student portal.

Although recent rainfall has provided some respite, the persisting air quality concerns have led to this proactive measure. As of Friday afternoon, the average real-time Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi dropped below 300, recording 289. The overall AQI for Friday was reported at 437. The Meteorological Department has stated that if brisk winds persist, there will likely be a definite improvement in air quality.

Preceding Delhi University’s decision, schools in the capital have also declared winter vacations. Schools will remain closed from 9th November 2023 to 18th November 2023. This resolution is in response to the deteriorating air quality in the state, as stated by the Delhi government. The schools in the capital are scheduled to reopen on 20th November 2023.
