Pune, 27th November 2024: In a recent survey conducted by Punekar News, Devendra Fadnavis has emerged as the most popular candidate for the Chief Ministerial post of Maharashtra, securing 56% of the votes. Eknath Shinde received 26%, while Ajit Pawar garnered 18% in the poll.

The survey, which gauged public sentiment ahead of the formation of the new government, indicated strong support for Fadnavis, particularly from the urban electorate. Punekars have expressed their preference for his leadership, citing his governance and development-centric approach during his previous tenure as Chief Minister.

The results come as the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Mahayuti Alliance clinched a decisive victory in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections. The alliance, which includes the BJP, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), secured a clear majority in the Assembly.

The BJP emerged as the largest party, winning 133 seats, followed by Shiv Sena with 57 seats and NCP with 41. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance struggled to make an impact, with Shiv Sena (UBT) securing 20 seats, Congress winning 15, and NCP-SP taking 10 seats.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the victory as a mandate for development, while opposition leaders, including Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, raised concerns over the election process, alleging tampering with electronic voting machines (EVMs).

As the new government prepares to take shape, discussions on key ministerial roles, including the Chief Minister post, are ongoing.

The survey highlights public support for Fadnavis, whose tenure as Chief Minister was marked by significant infrastructure development, industrial growth, and innovative governance initiatives. However, official confirmation of the Chief Minister’s appointment is yet to be announced by the Mahayuti Alliance.
