Pune: Devotees Visit Bhimashankar Temple On Last Shravan Monday, Mahapooja Performed

Bhimashankar 11th Sept 2023: On the fourth and final Monday of Shravan month, devotees gathered at the holy shrine of Lord Shiva at Bhimashankar to perform the sacred ritual of ‘Jalabhishek’ (anointing with holy water) and offer prayers. Bhimashankar temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas (sacred abodes of Lord Shiva), and during the Shravan month, especially on every Monday, it attracts lakhs of devotees and tourists from all over the country. For the fourth Monday of Shravan month, devotees have arrived as early as 12 am to take blessings at the temple.

As per tradition, the ‘aarti’ and ‘mahapooja’ at the Bhimashankar temple took place between 4:30 am to 5 am today. The Bhimashankar temple premises were adorned with colorful flowers, making it a vibrant and divine atmosphere. This momentous occasion was attended by MLA Mahesh Landge, President of the Bhimashankar Temple Trust Advocate Suresh Kaudare and others were present.

Later in the day, Revenue and Animal Husbandry Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, along with his wife Shalinitai Vikhe, MP Rajan Vichare, Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar and his wife also took blessings of the god by visiting the temple. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is also scheduled to visit for the darshan of Lord Shiva later today. To manage the crowd, the Khed police station has organized parking facilities near the temple premises and adequate police staff has been deployed to manage the traffic here.
