Does Ozone therapy recover the Covid-19 patients rapidly? Read to know more

Pune: April 27, 2021: When the entire country is battling with shortage of oxygen and various medicines, Ozone therapy has shown positive signs with rapid recovery rate. This alternative therapy not only recoveries the patients at a fast pace but also reduces the hospital stay.
The Bisleri Charitable Trust’s Ozone Forum of India claimed that the therapy besides faster recovery also has no side-effects, is pocket friendly, increases energy levels among others. Medical practitioner Dr Kedar Valsangkar who is also a trained ozone therapist said, “last year we experimented this therapy at Lokmanya Hospital in Chinchwad and had very encouraging results”.
Explaining in details about it, Dr Valsangkar said, “Before conducting the trials we had taken permission from Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). After getting a go-ahead, the report was placed before the ethical committee of the hospital which after scrutiny allowed to perform this therapy on the patients”.
“We treated some 60 patients with this therapy. While the therapy was under-way, we did not discontinue the conventional way of treating the patient and medicines. We found out that from day 5, the patients showed recovery signs. Within 10 days the patient was fine and was discharged from the hospital on 10th day”, Dr Valsangkar stated.
“The patients we treated were aged between 18 years to 60 years of age”, he said.
What is the therapy?
Therapy includes use of Ozone gas (O3) as against oxygen (O2). The gas is administered in the patient’s body through rectum route. The fast absorption of the gas rejuvenates the cells and provides enough strength to them.
Either through an injection or through rectum track it can be inserted into the body. So if a patient requires Oxygen for four days with the use of this therapy, it can be reduced down to two days.
There are 17 points of application of Ozone therapy which includes ear or injection.
Applied therapy world over
The ozone therapy is used in 11 other types of diseases which include TB and Cancer, among others. It is being used in Europe, US etc. Ozone is also used for sanitizing the area. DRDO has taken the clinical trials for it for sanitizing a pathway.
Panel of trained doctors
Dr Valsangkar said that there are a few doctors who have been trained in this therapy. A small Ozone unit is required for the administration of it. The unit is pocked friendly and is manufactured at a unit in Mumbai. The technician at the hospital can be trained to apply this therapy which is not very difficult to do.
Peer Reviewed
A paper on this therapy has been peer reviewed in the European medical journal (ELSEVIER) European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences. “All we need is to spread awareness about it”, Dr Valsangkar said.
