Eid-e-Milad 2022: Birth Anniversary Of Prophet Muhammad Being Celebrated In Pune City With Pomp And Excitement

Pune, 9th October 2022: Eid-e-Milad is a holiday commemorating the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, the religion’s founder.

 

The Prophet was born in 571 AD, on the 12th day of Rabi-al-Awwal, the third month of Islam, according to Islamic tradition. The birthday of the Prophet Muhammad is a worldwide event marked by much pomp and celebration. This day is also referred to as Mawlid, Eid Milad-Un-Nabi, or Eid-e-Milad.

In Pune, Eid-e-Milad is observed according to custom. At present, Muslims observe Eid-e-Milad by donning new attire, praying, and exchanging presents. At the mosque or dargah, the Muslim community congregates to start the day with morning prayers and a procession. The Holy Quran is used to tell children the tales of Prophet Muhammad’s life. To commemorate this event, night prayers are held. These social events are open to friends and family. Along with reciting prayers and messages on the day of Eid Milad Un Nabi, donations are also made to the less fortunate. Food is given to them.

 

On the occasion of Eid, numerous religious ceremonies are carried out, and a procession leaves from various parts of the city. This big procession draws a sizable number of Muslims and is taking place after a gap of two years. Islam’s teachings state that prayers are said during procession occasions to spread happiness and peace throughout the world and to release people from any difficulties. Currently, the city is experiencing a festive mood in honour of Eid-e-Milad. Many clothes and other stores are lining the markets on the streets of Pune.

 

This event is widely observed around the world, including in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India.
