Electricity Supply Disconnected In 792 Schools In Pune Rural Areas Due To Non-Payment Of Bills

Pune, 17th November 2021: As schools are reopening in the Pune district, 792 schools are facing electricity supply issues as the supply was disconnected due to bill arrears.

In the Pune district, there are 3,639 schools run by Zilla Parishad (ZP). Out of this, 2847 schools have a regular electricity supply while 792 schools have no electricity supply as their bills are not paid.

They include 402 schools in Bhor, Velha, Mulshi, Baramati and Indapur tehsil.

ZP Vice President Ranjeet Shivtare said, “We have given instructions to gram penchant to pay the bills from Gram Nidhi ie funds given for village development.”
