Exchange Empty Milk Bag With Tree Sapling Initiative Gets Huge Response

Pimpri-Chinchwad, December 2, 2020: In the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad, a commendable initiative is being implemented to give an empty bag of milk and take away the sapling of your favourite trees. The concept behind it is Zero Plastic and the initiative, which started on Tuesday, is getting a huge response from the city. Three thousand bags of milk have been collected on the first day and 150 trees have been taken away by the citizens through this initiative. The event will continue for the next 15 days and the organizers intend to extend the period in view of the response.

The project is being implemented in collaboration with Eco-Friendly Flora, Agricos Gardens and Deepak Sonawane. Deepak Sonawane has a nursery in 11 acres and the collected milk bags will be used for seedlings. This initiative is being implemented in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad and empty milk bags are being collected at 19 places. Each empty bag of milk costs 40 paise. Accordingly, the citizens will be able to get the trees they want by giving some empty milk bags and cash. The price of the tree plants starts from Rs.25 which has 40 different species of plants.

“Everyone has a bag of milk at home, however, after the milk is poured into the pot, the milk bag is thrown in the trash. Environmental degradation is inevitable. It takes many years for plastic to be destroyed. However, reusing the same bag can save nature from degradation”, said Deepak Sonawane.

Which different species of plants are available?

Gokarna White/Blue, Ambemohar Basmati, Herbal Tea, Curry Leaf, Black Basil, Peppermint, Rose Desi/Kashmiri, Ratarani, Mogra, Nishingandh, Shevanti, Camphor Basil, Vegetable, Aloe vera, Garlic, Adulsa.

How should you return an empty bag of milk?

1) Empty milk bags need to be washed and dried.

2) Tree sapling will be given in exchange for the bags.

3) The price of the milk bag will be 40 paise per bag.

4) The money for the bags will be deducted from the price of the seedlings and the remaining amount will have to be paid.

5) You will get to choose from a selected range of flowering, fragrant, ayurvedic plants etc.
