Father’s Presence Sparks Response From Comatose Daughter In USA

Karad, 6th March 2025: A tragic car accident in Sacramento, California, left Neelam Tanaji Shinde, a young woman from Umbraj village in Karad taluka, in a coma. As soon as her father, Tanaji Shinde, secured an emergency visa, he traveled to the USA to be by her side. The emotional moment unfolded when he arrived at the UC Davis Medical Center on Tuesday (4th March) at 1:30 am local time. Upon hearing her father’s words, “Neelam, I am here,” her eyelids fluttered—an unexpected response that moved everyone to tears.
Eighteen days ago, Neelam suffered severe injuries in a car accident and has been receiving intensive care at UC Davis Medical Center. Though the medical team advised Shinde to visit in the morning, he insisted on seeing his daughter immediately. Hospital staff eventually relented, leading to an emotionally charged reunion in the ICU. Witnessing his daughter’s slight movement, Tanaji Shinde broke down in tears, leaving even the hospital staff deeply moved by the power of their bond.
Neelam’s father and her cousin, Gaurav Kadam, have traveled to the USA on emergency visas, which allow a stay of up to six months. Initially, the hospital has arranged their accommodation for ten days, after which assistance is expected from Maharashtrian community organizations in the USA Several businesspersons have also stepped forward to offer support.
