Fazlani School U-12 eves top in Aspire India 5s basketball
PUNE, 3rd May 2023: Fazlani International School, Malavli girls registered a hard-fought two-point win over City Pride ‘A’ to annex the inaugural Aspire India Under-12 School 5s Basketball Tournament 2023, organized at the Darshan Academy CBSE School, Chinchwad in association with the District Sports Office, Pune, and played over the weekend.
In the final, the Fazlani hoopsters won 10-8 after a tense encounter. Sofiya Shaikh (6 points) led from the front and in fact emerged the highest scorer in the girl’s section with 16 points. City Pride ‘A’ pushed hard with Rashi Wayal (4) and Atheeva Adhikari and Ahillya Khule (2 each) pushing the scoreline.
In the semifinals, Fazlani got the better of Elpro International School 8-2, while City Pride ‘A’ beat their counterparts City Pride ‘B’ 6-0.
The tournament attracted a total of 5 teams in the girl’s section namely Wisdom World School, City Pride ‘A’ and ‘B’, Elpro International School, Fazlani International School, and 9 in the boy’s section which additionally included Euro International School, St. Ursula H.S, Infant Jesus School and SNBP.
